Summary
This issue contains the transcription of the 1869 diary of Clay Township resident Samuel R. Hess, and provides a day-to-day look at the life of a typical Mennonite farmer and businessman. The diary has been indexed by name and provides a list of local residents with whom Hess had contact with.
Family files are created for Lancaster County families. They may contain correspondence about a family, short genealogies and charts, photocopies of inventories and accounts, letters, etc. The size of any particular family file varies greatly.

Willson that he has bought Harriet Lane Johnston’s Wheatland estate for $20,000, half to be paid now and the rest in installments; sale includes plants for the garden, bookcases in library, 2 cows, one horse, all farming implements; she may continue occupying the house until 1 July next with free supply of ice, fruit, and vegetables. Approved by Harriet Lane Johnston. Written on Harriet Lane Johnston’s stationery. 120 Park Street, [Baltimore].

Agreement between Elliott T. Lane and James Buchanan concerning funds of Jane B. Lane, Elliott’s wife and James’ sister, and in case she makes no will, how the estate will be divided. Involves bequeaths from her father, James Buchanan, and her mother, Elizabeth Buchanan. Also mentioned in the agreement are her sister, Harriett Henry, and her brother, the Reverend Edward Y. Buchanan, and her four children, James B. Lane, Elliott E. Lane, Mary Elisabeth Lane and Harriett Rebecca Lane. Franklin County, PA.
