Typed information glued to back of photo: For several years the Lancaster Recreation Commission has operated a day center for the purpose of providing the senior citizens of the community an opportunity to gather at their convenience in an atmosphere which would satisfy their wants and desires for recreation and companionship. Members gather daily to play cards, read books and magazines, watch television or possibly just sit and gossip or meet new friends. There are also special groups who go bowling, participate in card parties, partake of instruction i ncrafts, or are entertained at a weekly movie session.
The craft instruction program consists of the making of useful and decorative articles which the members can keep for their personal use or give as a gift. The projects usually follow a seasonal theme such as the making of candles for Christmas or the deocrating of eggs for Easter time and are made from materials some of which are purchased from craft supply houses but most of which are secured from local industries and businesses either freee or at a nominal cost.
