On that day the Continental Congress held a brief session in the court house that stood in Penn Square. The borough was

interred in the Friends burying ground, of which society he was ever an honest and worthy member. The funeral was attended by his Excellency the President and Council, and the Honorable the members of the General Assembly of this Commonwealth, and by a very numerous and respectable concourse of people.
