Watt & Shand box with lid. Top of box covered with repeated design paper showing Watt & Shand stores "Downtown" and "Park City" as well as bordered logo with "Watt & Shand Lancaster, PA." Bottom sides covered with black or dark colored paper bent over edges top and bottom.
Union Fire Company metal box. Tin metal box with 2 movable wire loop handles on sides. 2 rear-tabbed hinges attach the top to the box. A hinged clasp is attached to the center front edge of the top.
Box is silver inside. Outside is painted black with double fine-gold-lines bordering the bottom and top of the box. A single gold line is painted around the sides of the lid. On the top: a 1-inch-wide band of gold, edged in red. A fine gold line is painted on the inside of the wider gold band. On one end, painted in gold: "UNION
Wooden box to be opened for Union Fire Company's 200th Anniversary in 2060. Wooden shipping box containing "French Cognac" stenciled:" Produce of France No Fodder Packing" on one side. "PINET CASTILLON & Co. COGNAC"
On back are labels: "Fragile AIR FRANCE; Air France FRET, Destination PHILADELPHIE (sic) via NY"
Sides and top of exterior painted in bold colors - yellow, blue, neon orange circles, arranged like flowers with leaves. Bakc made with two extensions on top ends that function as pegs that hold the lid/top and allow it to open and close. Flush bottom nailed to sides. Interior and bottom are unfinished. Spatters of paint inside and out as well as worn off top designs indicate this box was used.
Oval tin box (A) with fitted, domed lid (B). Box has two raised bands on sides. Flat bottom of box is soldered to sides. Lid created by soldering a hammered, rounded oval top onto a 1/2" oval band. Interior of both A and B is tinned.
Used as a container for the miniature tea kettle G.00.03.1.

Ownership by donor's father, William A. Heitshu. Donor believes oval box was original container for teakettle.
Exterior surface has vestiges of an original finish, now oxidized with areas of corrosion. Abrasions over much of surface. Interior moderately rusted and corroded.
