Howell, as / major of The National Greys of / Philadelphia, Pa., Commission / issued & signed by Governor Porter / August 3rd 1842. / Born in Philadelphia Apr.24, 1814 / Died in Lancaster Apr. 10, 1903. / Married Elizabeth Michael in 1841 / of Lancaster, Pa - daughter of John / & Elizabeth Dietrich Michael. Removed to Lancaster in 1843 Sept. / on account of "homesickness" of Mrs. / Howell where he resided until his / death 4-1-03. They had five children.
