Henry to Louisa Anderson stating that he misses his family; attended the Centennial Exhibition; sorry that Mr. Cassatt is spending too much money and that his family will suffer; Delia’s liver is all right; Alice is a terrible wreck but claims to be well now; likes Alice’s a Jessie’s husbands; will visit Uncle Edward over the weekend; seems to compare the Centennial Exhibition unfavorably with the shops on Broadway; did not bother to see Presidents Hayes and Grant; did not see Mrs. Stokes; and sends his best to Aunt Sidney. Henry to Louisa Anderson expressing sorrow that she is so weak after giving birth but he is looking for a nurse; weather cold and snowy; will try to find rooms for a getaway; is very pleased with the election in Maryland since Democrats made a clean sweep; comments on the Panic of 1873 in New York and elsewhere, both Parkers having great losses and he is shipping but a few fresh oysters now. Envelope addressed to Mrs. J. Buchanan Henry, care Dr. W. C. Anderson, Stapleton, Staten Island, New York. Both letter and envelope heavily water stained. Annapolis, Maryland.
