Description
Act to confirm election of trustees of the Second Presbyterian Church signed by Pennsylvania’s Speaker of the House of Representatives, Henry K. Strong, Speaker of the Senate, William Mulhenberg Hiester and Governor, James Pollock . An act to confirm and legalize the election of trustees of the Second Presbyterian Congregation of the City of Lancaster signed by Henry K. Strong, Speaker of the House of Representatives, William M. Hiester, Speaker of the Senate, and James Pollock, Governor, and certified by John M. Sullivan, Deputy Secretary of the Commonwealth confirming the election of several trustees after failing to do so according to the charter of the church. This act upholds the action of the Golden seal with red ribbon on last page. Lancaster, PA.

Agreement between Elliott T. Lane and James Buchanan concerning funds of Jane B. Lane, Elliott’s wife and James’ sister, and in case she makes no will, how the estate will be divided. Involves bequeaths from her father, James Buchanan, and her mother, Elizabeth Buchanan. Also mentioned in the agreement are her sister, Harriett Henry, and her brother, the Reverend Edward Y. The James Buchanan Family Papers were collected by the James Buchanan Foundation for the Preservation of Wheatland. This collection was relocated from the Wheatland mansion to the LancasterHistory archives in the Spring of 2009.
