Henry to Mary Hagner Nicholson commenting on the heat wave; hoping that she is not too tired after reading his lengthy letter; his boredom at having to chaperone his cousin, Miss S, even after trying to expound of the merits of General Ward as a love interest; and wonders why he has lost interest in everyone else but her; commenting on the praise Scharff heaped upon her; and hoping to persuade her mother to allow her to write more often. Envelope with postmark and stamp removed and intact red wax seal addressed to Miss M. H. Nicholson, Care of Col. Nicholson, Annapolis, Maryland. Washington, D.C.
