This scrapbook discusses many aspects about the Lancaster County Amish community. Several well-known Amish customs are mentioned throughout the newspaper clippings such as Rumspringa, barn raising, marriage season, and education. Other articles contain information about funeral customs, past-time activities, agriculture and other occupations. An article of special interest surrounds two Amish men arrested for religious beliefs.

More than fifty scripts for the WGAL radio show, "Aunt Min Sez," were saved in this scrapbook. Aunt Min, the homespun character, shared anecdotes about holidays, the weather, church, dieting, learning to ride a bicycle, Atlantic City, a bat in the house, house cleaning, and various other subjects. Her stories combined humor with down-to-earth philosophy about life and provided entertainment for readers and listeners.
Mrs. Marian Root Wisler, of Columbia, Pennsylvania began publishing "Aunt Min Sez" as a newspaper column in November 1938. The fifteen minute radio scripts were written and read by Mrs. Wisler, who was sometimes joined by Mrs. Wilbur Laird portraying "Jen." The show aired Thursday mornings at 10:00 a.m. on WGAL radio and the scripts were published in The Columbia Broadcaster.
Admin/Biographical History
Marian Root Wisler was married to John Jay Wisler, Sr. who was a 4th cousin of John W. W. Loose. Mrs. Wisler was the publisher of The Columbia Broadcaster from 1931-1934.

This Bride's Book is the scrapbook for the wedding of Doris Jane Hall and Richard Henry Barr, Jr., both of Lancaster. At the front is a copy of the marriage service and certificate. The wedding was officiated by Pastor Allen L. Benner at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, Lancaster on 28 December 1946. The engagement was announced at the Hamilton Club on 5 August 1946. The volume contains engagement, bridal shower and wedding cards, as well as the wedding invitation. A description is given for each party and shower, including hostess, location, menu, guest list and gifts. Newspaper clippings announce the engagement and wedding. The bride's trousseau and fabric samples and details of the gowns are recorded. The bridal party is listed and the service is detailed. The guest list is a "Who's Who" of Lancaster. The couple honeymooned in Bermuda and kept a journal of their trip. Their family trees are found on the last page. Housed with the scrapbook are Richard's obituary and Doris' burial location.

The Bride's Book and photograph album were purchased by the donors in a box lot at an auction in Carlisle, Pennsylvania.
These volumes contain various newspaper clippings, printed materials, and ephemera collected by Edith Raub Helm. The books provide insight into her life including the schools she attended-Shippen School for Girls and Briarcliff Junior College. The scrapbooks focus on the social aspects of women's lives, featuring the theatre, wedding invitations, and engagement, marriage, and birth announcements.

James Buchanan Memorial, 1902-1915. Although James Buchanan is the subject; his Freemasonry is the focus of this scrapbook. The book contains information on the Masonic Home in Elizabethtown and Wheatland in Lancaster. The people mentioned in the scrapbook are H. T. Albert, William Uhler Hensel, and Jacob Hay Brown.

James Buchanan was born on April 23, 1791 to James Buchanan and Elizabeth Speer. He was the second child born out of ten children, and he would go on to outlive all but one of his siblings. Most popularly remembered as Pennsylvania's only President and as a lifelong bachelor, Buchanan committed a lifetime to politics. In 1821, he left his law practice and embarked on his political career after having been voted into the U.S. House of Representatives. He would remain in the House for five consecutive terms before serving as the U.S. Minister to Russia, a Senator in the U.S. Senate, the U.S. Secretary of State, the U.S. Minister to Great Britain, and finally, the 15th President of the United States. He died in his bedchamber at Wheatland at 8:30 AM on June 1, 1868. He was 77 years old.

Masonic Order Activities and the Anniversary Celebration of James Buchanan Scrapbook, No date. This scrapbook contains a considerable amount of information about Freemasons and James Buchanan's involvement as a Freemason. Commemorating James Buchanan's 100th year as a Freemason, the book shows the events surrounding that celebration through newspaper clippings and handwritten notations. An item of special interest is the facsimile of a handwritten letter by James Buchanan from 1816. The volume conveys information about the bicentennial of Templarism in Lancaster County. Bylaws and historic member lists are available for Lancaster and Elizabethtown. Some names mentioned are Marquis de Lafayette, Commodore Thomas MacDonaugh (head of a local Freemason chapter), and Andrew Jackson.
