This collection was relocated from the Wheatland mansion to the LancasterHistory archives in the Spring of 2009. Digitization of the James Buchanan Family Papers was funded by the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission, PHMC Appl ID # 201808013051, 2019-2020.
Jacob Gundaker received payment from H. B. Swarr for $10 for services as cryer and $2.47 for U. S. Internal Revenue tax on the sale of Lane lots on East Orange St. Lancaster.

Samuel Horst, collector, received payment from “Mrs. Harriet Lane Johnston per H. B. Swarr. Twenty-three 52/100 dollars, county tax, assessed against Mrs. Johnston’s Wheatland estate for 1870.” $24.75 – 1.23 5 perct off = $23.52. Lancaster.
