Paper cut constructed of laid paper with 4 geometric designs surrounding a cutout "latticework" ornament above the cut-out words, "Cheap & Good." Bottom of paper is fringed.
Brass mechanical pencil on black cord. Pencil terminates in adjustable point on one end and an ornamented cone-shaped mount on the other which holds a yellow cut-glass gem.
This Pencil may be from another collection and not from Willson Rettew Estate.
A) Inkwell, square mold-blown leaded glass. Thick walls, sides molded with thick strands lazily undulating in a diagonal direction. Raised neck and deep well.
B) Stand is a cast brass tray shaped like a picture frame without center picture. Two projecting handles. All supported by four scroll-molded feet attached to bottom of tray corners with screws. Entire top surface is decorated profusely with mostly scrolling leafage.
Glass is very good with expected wear on bottom edges. Metal stand has darkened surfaces except for top area where glass inkwell fits. Spotty stains on top.
Handmade rectangular grater crudely fashioned with tinned sheet iron and having 14 staggered slits of 1.25" width and raised edges for cutting. All four edges are folded to back, but the two long sides are rolled over wire to stiffen length of tool.
Crudely fashioned tin tool has wear and imperfections at blades and back corners. Abrasions and corrosion scattered overall. Peeling paint or corrosion.
Small hardened steel padlock with set of 2 keys. Keys are marked, "Reese Padlock Co. Lancaster, PA USA" Body of padlock marked "REESE" and "U" arm marked "HARDENED" and "AMERICAN MADE".
Glass jar with gold-colored metal lid. Paper label reads, "Lancaster county / Pure / Apple Butter / Prepared from Evaporated Apples / with added Spices / H. Kellogg & Sons / DISTRIBUTORS / Philadelphia, Pa."
Hamilton Watch, 18k gold body with brown leather strap. "Allison" model. See object file for more details. A silver dial and gold numbers and hands, with a second hand clock at the bottom. Case is ivory with gold designs and Hamilton on front and Hamilton on the inside with blue velvet holder.
Hanging balance scales with two brass dishes. Attached tag: "Miss Emma H. Ranck". Listed in original accession notes as "Assayers Scales" used specifically for weighing metals.
Twist-rod metal corkscrew with wooden handle and sheath. Marked on handle, "Rohrer's / Liquor Store / 24 & 25 Centre Squre, / Lancaster, PA" Attached label read, "H 324"
Weight set for gram scale. Cylindrical wooden container with 10 weights marked.
Single piece of wood, hollowed out cup/container. 5/8" high. Lid slips onto top to fit securely. Written on top in black ink: "Gram Weights." Inside, 3 heavier weights of varying square sizes. 7 thin square sheets. All are metal.
