Letter from William Palmer to Harriet Lane promising to send her his portrait, mentioning his visit home where he saw Mr. Plitt, referring to the disconsolate Captain Lee, the Rev. Mr. Pyne agreeing to stay on following an inspiring address by Mr. Carlisle, attending a reception at the Navy Yard for the wedding of one of Com. Buchanan’s daughters, and the mourning of Mrs. Harris on the death of the Colonel’s two brothers. Washington, D.C. 3 April [1856-1860].
