Breckenridge and another figure look on. The back page shows an exterior view of the railroad station with well-wishers and an interior view of the reception within, with a commentary of the festivities and those attending. New York.~Copy 1 comprises pages 217-218 and 231-232 and is torn around the edges.~Copy 2 is the entire issue containing numerous pictures of Wheatland, his dog Lara, personal items, Buchanan in front of the national capitol (full-page) and four scenes in Lancaster.~Copy 3 is the entire uncut issue.

Description: Two issues of the Weekly Journal, White Pigeon, Michigan. December 14, 1878 contains the obituary of an individual named James Buchanan (pg. 1) who was born August 14, 1807 and died November 28, 1878, and the wedding announcement of Ella Buchanan to John Gunn (p. 5). The January 18, 1879 edition has no reference of Buchanan in the paper, but has the name “Chas Buchanan” written on the top of the first page. [These Buchanans may be related through President Buchanan’s father.]
