Letter from E. Y. Buchanan to H. B. Swarr quoting from Judge Black’s 18-- letter, which requests an additional $1500 now and $5,500 from the estate later as payment for the business [of writing James Buchanan’s biography]; noting that Judge Black’s ideas of suitable compensation for writing the biography have since greatly increased; and accepting Mr. Swarr’s offer of an advance of $2000 or $2500 from the estate at the present time.
