Title: Correspondence of Col. Henry Bouquet.

Description: This collection contains transcribed copies and carbon copies of the letters to and from Col. Henry Bouquet from 1758-1765. All of these letters are dated in Lancaster as mentioned in the 1930 letter from Lucien Brault of Ottawa, CAN, to C. H. Martin Esq., of Lancaster, also included in this collection. The letters mainly detail wants and needs of the troops and Bouquet, including the need for supplies, troops, ammunition and the case of Bouquet's personal needs, a new pair of trousers. These are recurrent in the letters as are the continuous requests for discharges and promotions.

Title: Falk Brothers Records

Description: The Falk Brothers Records contain correspondence between Falk Brothers, a retail meat business in Lancaster, and vendors of spices, cutlery, and equipment. Some of the letters enclose catalogs and price lists, recipes or formulas, and instructions on how to use products. Falk Brothers did business with vendors on the east coast and in the Midwest and these records show the products and formulas used by retailers and meatpackers at that time.

Admin/Biographical History: Falk Brothers was a retail meat business located at 511 St. Joseph Street, Lancaster. The family business first emerged from the 1882-1883 Lancaster city directory with a listing for Charles Falk, Jr., butcher, located at 516 High St. in Lancaster. In 1892, the home and retail business were located at 509 St. Joseph Street and by 1920, they had relocated the business to 511 St. Joseph Street. The name Falk Brothers appeared in 1941 and continued until the business closed in 1980. Richard C. Falk and Robert L. Falk were the proprietors. The difficulty of accommodating Federal regulations in the later years may have contributed to the business closing.; Sources: Lancaster City Directories; Kunzler & Company, Inc.

Collection: Russian War Relief Program

Title: Russian War Relief Program

Description: This collection documents Lancaster County's support of Russian War Relief, Inc. during World War II. The organization was incorporated in New York City one month after Germany attacked the Soviet Union, in order to provide humanitarian support for Soviet citizens and war orphans who were living in devastated villages with near-famine conditions. Russian War Relief, Inc. worked with local War Chests, Community Chests and the National War Fund in order to raise money for the campaign. Clothing, food and Christmas gifts for children were also collected. F. Lyman Windolph, a Lancaster lawyer, worked with a few others in the community to collect contributions from 1942-1944. The collection contains a publicity portfolio for Russian War Relief, Inc. and correspondence between Mr. Windolph and members of the organization from 1942-1945.
