Letter from J. B. Henry to Louisa Anderson reiterating his concern about her father’s imminent arrival and his disappointment of not being able to be there to help; gives the remainder of his itinerary; vows never to travel again until she is by his side; dislikes Richard Wagner’s music; instructs her to pay Dody’s medical school bills; summaries his travel expenses and that of the family; comments on the falling stock market; will ask Mrs. Robson if Belle can come to them; hopes to see Frank in Nice; and speculates on berths for her father and Miss I to get them home sooner. Envelope addressed to Mrs. J Buchanan Henry, Garden City, Long Island, New York, America stained with some loss, postmark with stamp cut out. Munich, Bavaria.

Henry to Louisa Anderson responding to the news of the sick baby and is sorry for the robin’s [bird] death; recounts his and Arthur and his daily rows and Will is building up his strength; comments on the dry weather; sends checks for Joe’s expenses; hopes she will get the necessary tickets for Ive’s visit and gives alternatives if she cannot; asks that the gun be left at home since hunting season is over; and gives his itinerary for returning home by sea. Envelope addressed to Mrs. J. Buchanan Henry, Garden City, Long Island, NY. With postmark but stamp removed. Lake George, NY.

Henry hoping that his trip to Europe is going well; discusses a financial matter involving John Ross, Cousin William, her father, and Cameron & Co; Robby has been quite sick but is better; Joe likes his doctors at the hospital; finally hired a chambermaid; the wet nurse doesn’t like the children; the waitress didn’t show up; mentions the Tennenbergs, the Greenfields, Kreakis, and the President; and Mrs. Proudfoot writes about Louisa’s father and his mental problems. Description
Letter from Charles A. Hoyt to J. B. Henry discussing, in moving terms, the situation of Alice and Joseph in New York, living without money or employment and proposing that they move to Annapolis to be near his father because their situation is desperate; Joseph appears unable to work. Envelope with postmarks and stamp lost in opening addressed to Mr. J. Buchanan Henry, Hotel Maryland, Annapolis, Maryland. 2113 Chestnut St., Philadelphia.

Letter from C. A. Hoyt to J. B. Henry relating the difficulties of Alice and Joseph’s trying to live in New York with inadequate income and begs James Buchanan Henry to welcome them for the winter so as to reduce their living expenses. Badly water damaged with some loss of text. Chestnut St., Philadelphia.

Letter from F. Anderson to J. B. Henry noting the irregularity of mail delivery and thanking him for handling a difficult real estate transaction; Lena and the children are well and had a nice Christmas; Capt. Coffin is improved; Lieutenant Hobson’s fame as not gone to his head; Capt. Glass speaks highly of Hobson; speaks of Reggie, Joe, Rob, and Sid; and envies James Buchanan Henry’s trip to Europe. Envelope with six postmarks and stamp removed, some water damage addressed to J. Buchanan Henry, Esp., Hotel Maryland, Annapolis, Maryland, United States of America, forwarded to Palm Beach, Florida. U.S. Naval Hospital, Yokohama, Japan.
