Letter from son Will to J. B. Henry recounting his conversation with the secretary of the cemetery company where James Buchanan Henry’s father and sister are buried informing him that no more interments will be made in the old cemetery and that the tombstones of his father and sister are “their condition is any worse than any of the others”; wonders if Reg has joined the Catholic Church; that Rob has returned to barracks after camp; and will send a picture of his camp a little later. Envelope with postmarks but stamp removed addressed to Mr. J. Buchanan Henry, Maryland Hotel, Annapolis, Maryland. Note in later hand: Willy [ __ ] father and sisters graves at Newburgh, Pa. Wall Shops, Wall, Greensburg, Pa.

Letter from Will Henry to J. B. Henry reporting that he is temporarily in Pittsburgh running large department; misses the rural aspects of Greensburg and hates the heat and dirt of the city; is sorry about Rob’s hard luck; Reg sent him news from Lake George, which he would like to be there later when the family goes on its launch, but will be working; at least he will go camping at Conneaut Lake with his regiment. Envelope with postmarks and imprint of a stamp addressed to Mr. J. Buchanan Henry, Maryland Hotel, Annapolis, Maryland; in another hand: Willy on is removal with regrets from Greensburg to Pittsburg. Union Station, Pittsburgh [27 June 1897]. Date from postmark.

Coffin is improved; Lieutenant Hobson’s fame as not gone to his head; Capt. Glass speaks highly of Hobson; speaks of Reggie, Joe, Rob, and Sid; and envies James Buchanan Henry’s trip to Europe. Envelope with six postmarks and stamp removed, some water damage addressed to J. Buchanan Henry, Esp., Hotel Maryland, Annapolis, Maryland, United States of America, forwarded to Palm Beach, Florida. Letter from daughter-in-law Alice Hoyt Henry to J. B. Henry welcoming him back from his travels; recounting her brief encounter with Rob in Jersey City; Reggie will join Rob for a trip; the Ewings and Alice’s family enjoyed being in New York; Jack is now in Camp Vicars with Captain Pershing (his great friend); both were not injured when picked up by a tornado and tossed forty feet; Jack is living with Colonel Pettit and family; hopes she and James Buchanan Henry can secure a permanent position for Jack nearer home; and recounts the unhappy marriage of Henry Randall. Letter from Frank Anderson to J. B. Henry preparing to leave New York for Fortress Monroe; saw Reg for lunch but missed Rob; thinks Reg might find a place in the Pay Corps and offers names of people of influence: Mrs. Davis’s brother married into the Paymaster General’s family and Colonel Thompson and Captain Brownson might also help; tells of Charley Robson's good fortune to work for the American Copper Company, which seems to have a bright future; and asks for the addresses of Miss Irving and Frank. Envelope with postmarks and stamp addressed to J. Buchanan Henry, Esq, Hotel Maryland, Annapolis, MD. USS Alabama, Navy Yard, New York, NY.
