Henry to Louisa Anderson agreeing with her that they should be separated less often but circumstances might decide otherwise; Mr. Parker hasn’t written about his business trip but should when he reaches his home in Guelph, Canada; if he feels well he will embark on a two- to three-week vacation to Lake George, visiting Uncle Edward on the way; he will bring some of his goods to Staten Island to be shipped to Australia; asks about Henny Thieriot; likes matrimony; wonders if Mrs. Muney or Mrs. Meade will be at Lake George; implores her to exert her authority on Dody in a way to gain his everlasting respect; went to a party on a cool piazza and a moonlight row on the bay; mentions Mrs. Southgate and Mrs. Magruder. Envelope postmark with stamp removed addressed to Mrs. J. Buchanan Henry, care Dr. Wm. C. Anderson, Stapleton, Staten Island, New York. Annapolis, Maryland.

Henry to Louisa Anderson expressing sorrow that she is so weak after giving birth but he is looking for a nurse; weather cold and snowy; will try to find rooms for a getaway; is very pleased with the election in Maryland since Democrats made a clean sweep; comments on the Panic of 1873 in New York and elsewhere, both Parkers having great losses and he is shipping but a few fresh oysters now. Envelope addressed to Mrs. J. Buchanan Henry, care Dr. W. C. Anderson, Stapleton, Staten Island, New York. Both letter and envelope heavily water stained. Annapolis, Maryland.

Letter from J. B. Henry to Louisa Anderson expressing sorrow that she is sick and hopes she can produce enough milk for the their son; thinks he will look like her when a little older; upset that he has to leave for Currituck a day before the amateur theatrical in which “Mr. Randall & Mr. McIlvain & possibly Randy Hagner” will take part; Miss Susie wrote a nice letter and will with others spend a few days; frustrated that a nurse for the baby is so hard to find, his preferring an Annapolis woman to a Staten Island woman because the latter might get “house sick”; Miss Daly might be able to help; happy that she has heard from Cousin Annie, Harriet, and Alice; fears the economic conditions will get worse and the poor will suffer greatly; his business partner, Mr. Parker, is very gloomy about the future; ends on a melancholy note. Envelope with postmark and stamp addressed to Mrs. J. Buchanan Henry, care Dr. W. C. Anderson, Stapleton, Staten Island, New York. Annapolis, Maryland, Saturday [8 November 1874]. Date from postmark.

Letter from J. B. Henry to Louisa Anderson talking about being with his yacht all day; that Uncle Edward is well; Aunt is visiting the Lodis; Cousin Alice seems about the same; they wish he had brought her and the baby; Dody comes tomorrow for the weekend; has trouble keeping awake when company arrives; has not heard from Mr. Parker or Mr. Magruder; hopes Frank will tell James Davis that he would like to attend his wedding; and the birds are singing even as the morning mists hang on the fields. Envelope disintegrating with postmark and loose stamp addressed to Mrs. J. Buchanan Henry care of Dr. W. C. Anderson, Stapleton, Staten Island, NY. Oxford, Friday, 6 August [1875].

Henry to Louisa Anderson announcing that he arrive on the train with Mr. and Mrs. Southgate and Mrs. Harrison; not feeling very well; Mr. and Mrs. Magruder are well; Dr. [Rideout] called this morning; and has seen Parker and the building of his new house.
