Letter from James Buchanan to Harriet Lane telling her that Miss Hetty and he are well, Mr. Hiester and his bride are visiting Philadelphia and New York, and that Mr. Swarr and Mr. Brown attended their wedding reception along with much of local society except for the Reynolds. Wheatland.

This collection was relocated from the Wheatland mansion to the LancasterHistory archives in the Spring of 2009. Letter from James Buchanan to Harriet Lane returning Lily’s letter and detailing Dr. Blake’s noting that Mrs. Berghmans expected Harriet to visit, the wedding of Harriet’s Cousin Weaver including the bridesmaid Miss Sallie Contee, grand-daughter of “my old & valued Governor Kant of Maryland,” and reporting that the Daily Globe had published Dr. Blake’s letter denying “the appropriations for furniture.” With envelope addressed in care of Frederick Brown, Esquire, Philadelphia.
