Description
Letter from J. B. Henry to Louisa Anderson stating that he misses his family; attended the Centennial Exhibition; sorry that Mr. Cassatt is spending too much money and that his family will suffer; Delia’s liver is all right; Alice is a terrible wreck but claims to be well now; likes Alice’s a Jessie’s husbands; will visit Uncle Edward over the weekend; seems to compare the Centennial Exhibition unfavorably with the shops on Broadway; did not bother to see Presidents Hayes and Grant; did not see Mrs. Stokes; and sends his best to Aunt Sidney. Envelope addressed to Mrs. J. Buchanan Henry, care Dr. Anderson, Stapleton, Staten Island, New York. Both letter and envelope moderately water damaged with some pieces missing. Philadelphia, [1876].

The James Buchanan Family Papers were collected by the James Buchanan Foundation for the Preservation of Wheatland. This collection was relocated from the Wheatland mansion to the LancasterHistory archives in the Spring of 2009. Digitization of the James Buchanan Family Papers was funded by the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission, PHMC Appl ID # 201808013051, 2019-2020.
