Henry to Louisa Anderson describing a stroll around the area of Lake George where he is staying, including widow Wing’s brownstone house they had admired, prices in the general store for Aunt Sidney’s amusement, details of Lake House, where he is lodged; Dody is with him and taking lessons in French and addition; catalogs a number of guests he knows; misses his wife and children; and comments of the greenness of Gull Island.
