Letter from J. B. Henry to Louisa Anderson telling her that her latest letter had not arrived and that he was greatly concerned about her father’s illness; Robbie was a good boy sitting by his side and eating in the regular dining room; awaiting her instructions as to whether she and the children will return; Dody might go to college; sailing and weather are good; Cousin Annie is going to Atlantic City; Dr. King feels better; Aunt Sidney has been affected by Dr. Anderson’s illness; Frank might not go to the Navy; Dr. Vanderpoel will have to deal with any yellow fever outbreak and Dr. [Eradeston] Is on vacation. Envelope with postmark and missing stamp addressed to Mrs. J. Buchanan Henry, Stapleton, Richmond Do, New York. Watch Hill.

This collection was relocated from the Wheatland mansion to the LancasterHistory archives in the Spring of 2009. Digitization of the James Buchanan Family Papers was funded by the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission, PHMC Appl ID # 201808013051, 2019-2020.

Letter from Louisa Anderson Henry to J. B. Henry expressing surprise that he was not in Newport; both her father and Aunt Sidney are still the same; looking forward to Belle’s visit; Frank’s patients keep him very busy; Mr. Heutgen will straighten out the affairs at the Gazette; children are well, baby is teething and Robby has stopped crying; Mrs. Kellogg and Amelia need to be paid; and there was a case of yellow fever on Staten Island. Envelope with five postmarks but stamp removed addressed to J. Buchanan Henry, Esq., Yacht “Cricket”, Newport, Rhode Island, forwarded to Parker House, New Bedford, Massachusetts. Stapleton. 08/18/[1879] Year from context. Envelope not filmed.
