Letter from Richard Norris to James Buchanan mentioning Buchanan’s differing politics with Mr. Rives; Norris’s acquaintance with Mr. Ingersoll in London; his visit to Europe on business and pleasure; is marrying shortly a daughter of Cole Lynch of South Carolina, Miss Lynch having met Buchanan with her cousin, Mrs. Fisher, at Saratoga; and hoping to visit socially upon their return. On back of letter: “March 25.53. Richard Norris; March 29. Answered.” Philadelphia

The James Buchanan Family Papers were collected by the James Buchanan Foundation for the Preservation of Wheatland. This collection was relocated from the Wheatland mansion to the LancasterHistory archives in the Spring of 2009. Digitization of the James Buchanan Family Papers was funded by the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission, PHMC Appl ID # 201808013051, 2019-2020.
