Description
Two part desk in dark stained wood with drawers in lower portion and cubicles in upper portion. Owned by Thaddeus Stevens. No surface decoration; legs are turned. Six sections of cubicles: upper right four tall dividers, lower left nine small roughly square cubbies, upper right six roughly square cubbies, lower right four tall cubbies, upper middle two large sections. Slant top desk in middle, left and right are flat surfaces. Three drawers on left and right. Small Gothic style arches on skirt below the slanted desk section.

Judge Jacobs born Jan. 27, 1850 in Gettysburg, PA
Died Jan 11, 1929 Lower Allen Twp, Cumberland County. PA
graduated Pennsylvania College 1867, admitted to Adams County Bar in 1871. Professor of Law at Dickenson College of Law, 1891-92.
Judge Jacobs father was Rev. Michael Jacobs D.D. 1808-1871 Buried in Gettysburg.He taught Mathematics and Natural Sciences at the PA College in Gettysburg. He became well known for his meteorologist records of weather conditions at the Battle of Gettysburg and his home is pointed out on the National Park tours in the town. He was the pastor of the Lutheran campus church for the college.
Rev. David Jacobs was Rev. Michael's brother who entered Gettysburg College/Lutheran Theological Seminary and was in the schools first class, later teaching at the school.
The family knew Thaddeus Stevens through their connections with the school.

Description
Hand towel, white with Herringbone weave. Images in blue, red, and yellow printed on towel. These images include, in center, a man in suit carrying drinks and with dice falling from his pockets. The face of a young woman apears in a window. The scene is surrounded by a border of martini glasses and dice. The figures are presumably African American people with their blue (dark) skin and caricatured features.

Description
Padlock made by Slaymaker Lock Company for Conestoga Traction Company. Brass with key, attached by a chain. Ring and screw attaching chain to lock and key are steel or aluminum and probably replaced. Rivet construction. "Slaymaker Lancaster PA" is stamped in hasp. Spring hinge cover of keyhole. On reverse, raised portion that mimicks keyhole cover is stamped "C.T.Co."

overall oxidation that darkens the brass -- greenish cast in a few places. dents along edges of lock and on keyhole cover. bolt and keyring attaching chain to lock and key is likely a replacement.

Description
Painted portrait miniature of Jasper Yeates. Miniature features bust of Yeates with his head turned slightly to viewer's left. Yeates has white hair that falls to the bottom of his ears with short bangs or fringe across the forehead. His skin and eyes are paled. He wears a dark blue coat with a very dark, almost black, waitscoat with red lining or turnbacks. His shirt collar shows at the neck, and ruffles of his cravat how at the neck and through the buttons of his waistcoat. Dark background indludes grey and red.
Portrait is behind domed galss, in an oval frame. Frame is wide with convex curve, painted black. Frame features a thin gold band on the inside -- closest to the portrait.
