First page contains a an article on Lincoln’s progress to the White House for his inauguration and a short notice of Buchanan returning to Wheatland. Two issues of the Weekly Journal, White Pigeon, Michigan. December 14, 1878 contains the obituary of an individual named James Buchanan (pg. 1) who was born August 14, 1807 and died November 28, 1878, and the wedding announcement of Ella Buchanan to John Gunn (p. 5). The January 18, 1879 edition has no reference of Buchanan in the paper, but has the name “Chas Buchanan” written on the top of the first page. [These Buchanans may be related through President Buchanan’s father.]
