Arrangement of Material

Summary
Collection contains materials relating to the celebration of the 200th anniversary of the American Revolution in 1976. Most of the material is from countywide activities, but includes records from some towns. Contains minutes, newspaper clippings, program correspondence, photographs, and audio-tapes.
The six volumes that make up the Bicentennial Celebration, April 1971- February 1977 scrapbooks are a compilation of published materials such as newspaper articles, magazine articles, broadsides, brochures and pamphlets. The materials relay information about the actions of the Lancaster County Bicentennial Committee including meetings, mailings and events. The committee chose the "Hands of Liberty" theme for the committee and upcoming celebration. The theme was present on every mailing sent out by the committee and can be found on most of the materials within the scrapbooks. See finding aid for details and conditions for access.
Rights

Notes
The Lancaster County Bicentennial Committee was established in order to arrange events throughout the county to celebrate the 200th year anniversary of the American Revolution. The committee officers were as follows: Donald G. Goldstrom, president; Frank C. Fryburg, vice-president; Harold E. Frey, treasurer; Jack W. W. Loose, secretary; and Sally Jarvis, publicity committee chairman. The Lancaster County Bicentennial Committee was commissioned by the Pennsylvania Department of Commerce.
