Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission plaque for the DeTurk House, built in 1767 by John de Turk, son of Isaac de Turk, a Huguenot who settled in Berks County in 1712 and was one of a number of French Protestants who were pioneers in this part of Berks County.
American Balance of the mid-nineteenth century. the name of the maker is blurred, however, Philadelphia can be deciphered as the place of manufacture. "American Copper and Brass" H.J. Kauffman, page 233.
In rebuilding the Bertolet log cabin on the Boone Homestead near Reading, Pennsylvania, the massive size of the throat and chimney are very evident.
