Theodore Roosevelt speaking from the balcony of the Caldwell House
Description
Theodore Roosevelt speaking from the same place where Lincoln made an address in 1861. Peter B. Fordney, who was Lincoln's bodyguard to and from the train and who was six feet eight one one half inches, served in same capacity for Roosevelt, and is seen standing to left of Roosevelt. Lincoln Memorial Tablet is to right of balcony above flag. Roosevelt was brought to Lancaster under the management of W. Frank Gorrecht.

A.) 1928 - The Spirit of Chirstmas Seals looks on as President Calvin Coolidge accepts Christmas Seals from Emily Bissell, the creator of the first U. S. Seals in 1907.
B.) 1941 - President Franklin D. Roosevelt accepts Seals from Stevan Dohanos, designer of that year's Seals.
C.) 1950 - President Harry Turman accepts Christmas Seals from Frederick D. Hopkins who represented the Chrimstas Seal People.
D.) 1953 - President Dwight D. Eisenhower accepts Seals from james E. Perkins, MD, then managing director of the American Lung Association.
E.) 1962 - President John F. Kennedy accepts Christmas Seals from Anne Marie Fitzgerald, "Little Miss Christmas Seal" from Cleveland, Ohio.

B.) 1975 - President Gerald Ford accepts Seals from Vikki Carr, national Christmas Seals chairman and Dena Paresi, thechild Christmas Seal artist who designed the Connecticut Seal.
C.) 1970 - President Richard M. Nixon accepts Seals from Gail Patrick Jackson, national Christmas Seal chairman.
D.) 1979 - President Jimmy Carter accempts Christmas Seals from Lorna Garrison, child Christmas Seal artist for the District of Columbia.
E.) 1984 - President Ronald Reagan opening the Christmas Seal Campaign at the Oval Office with Pearl Bailey, national Christmas Seal chairman.
