Typescript of a series of three letters appearing in the Lancaster (Pa.) Intelligecer on February 24, March 2, and March 9, 1852.
Dr. Jenkins was a former resident of Lancaster (Pa.) then residing in Natchez, Mississippi, writing to his friend William B. Fordney on the subject of slavery, abolitionism, etc.
George Sanderson writes in an editorial on February 24, 1852. The letters "are written with great force and ability, and canot fail to have a happy effect in enlightening public opinion in the North in reference to the real condition of things as growing out of these questions".
Brief genealogical note headed "The Jenkinses of Churchtown" on title page.
