Cabinet card. Major Edward Bates Eckman in military uniform with fancy mustache. He was born August 7, 1856, died January 13, 1925. He married Mary Elizabeth Richards on November 30, 1881. He was superintendent of the St. Charles Furnace and served in the Spanish-American War.

Jacob Leroy Mehaffey in Navy uniform. Served on the U. S. S. Yosemite during the Spanish - American War. Died during a typhoon in Guam, November 13, 1900. Buried in Lancaster Cemetery.
