This collection consists of papers generated by John Erisman in his position as Justice of the Peace. These papers are largely receipts, contracts, promissory notes, and judgments. There are many names listed on the documents.
Summons to James Boyd to produce at trial several deeds and other documents involving the Boyd brothers, James, John, Samuel and Joseph, in which they transferred to themselves land previously owned by their father. Sent to George B. Porter, attorney for the defendants. Lancaster.

Custodial History
The James Buchanan Family Papers were collected by the James Buchanan Foundation for the Preservation of Wheatland. This collection was relocated from the Wheatland mansion to the LancasterHistory archives in the Spring of 2009. Digitization of the James Buchanan Family Papers was funded by the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission, PHMC Appl ID # 201808013051, 2019-2020.
Writ of summons to defendants to appear in court to answer plea against them, showing dates of issue and return, court term and case number, names of parties, cause of action, official seal and signatures, and date filed. Summons are for Court of Common Pleas, as well as District Court. No index. Handwritten on printed form.
