Summary
"Like no other event of the Vietnam War era, the Kent State incident of May 4, 1970 provided the impetus for vigorous antiwar activity on college and university campuses across the United States. Franklin and Marshall College in Lancaster, Pennsylvania was no exception. In the immediate aftermath of Kent State, F&M students temporarily abandoned their class routines, homework assignments, and upcoming final examinations and embarked on a meticulous campaign to protest the recent tragedy in Ohio...In the span of a few days, the F&M campus was transformed from a relatively quiet academic institution into a city-wide coordinating center for rallies, marches, and other open displays of protest sentiment."
