- This record group contains canceled orders that were issued by the county commissioners for payment to be made by the county treasurer. The orders show date, order number, amount, name of payee, purpose, and signatures of the county commissioners. In the case of "poor children," teachers were reimbursed by the county for tuition and/or the supplies purchased for students whose parents were unable to pay. Orders include: Poor Children, Almshouse, Bridges, Coroners Inquests, Prisons, Roads, Court House, and Tax Exonerations.

- Description
- Letter from James Buchanan to the Hon. Peter D. Vroom, who was serving as minister to the United Kingdom. Buchanan writes that he has received a letter from Dr. W. W. Bidlack who informed him that the Russian Minister at Berlin was soliciting an appointment of the Assistant Surgeon in the Russian Army, and that he cannot interfere in favor of Dr. Bidlack’s appointment. He writes about hoping to hear the Czar’s answer to the propositions made by Austria and accepted by France and England, and that if they are favorable, that they will hopefully be satisfactory to the British people. Buchanan writes that Russia also seems to be intent upon recovering their military prestige, and have made vast naval preparations. Written after the Crimean War. 22 December 1855.
