Cabinet card, loose in album. Unidentified young African American woman,seated, in light dress with beaded trim on her jacket. Written at bottom: "Martin + Jess Bushong's parents kept this escaped slave after the Civil War - in the West Grove area."
Small brown leather album of cartes de visites, one tintype and a loose cabinet card. Inscription, written twice, on front pages: "Presented to Charles H. Bushong by his grandfather Henry Bushong". This album contains photographs of members of the family of Henry Bushong and his son, Gilbert Bushong, who were devout Quakers and Abolitionists who aided freedom seekers on the Underground Railroad at their farm in Bart Township, Lancaster County, during the Civil War.
