3/4 profile bust charcoal portrait of woman wearing amulet clasp at center of neckline with white collar. Four buttons are visible down front of her bodice. Her hair is parted in the center. There appear to be ribbon/folds over her left ear with hint of fabric on top of her head and along right side like a bonnet or hair-covering on back of her head. She is looking left, eyes skyward. Back: "Mrs. Jacobina Gruel" written cursively in pencil on back.
Drawing, attached to cardboard, is brown overall. Lighter border from frame that has been removed.

Charcoal Portrait of Simon Cameron by Bertha L. Cochran. There are faint grid lines--first horizontal line is at the top of Cameron's head. In lower right corner, written in cursive with charcoal: "Simon Cameron / by / Bertha L. Cochran / -1890-"
Bertha L. (Cochran) Landis donated a collection to the Lancaster County Historical Society. (She married David B. Landis in 1914 and she died in 1959.) May have been donated by Mrs. George W. Hicks in 1930. See object file for additional information.
Portrait of young gentleman. Fairly faded out. Water marks/stains, one around right eye of man (viewer's left) in decorative bronze-colored frame with glass narrow gold-colored braid around edge. All with a red velvet rectangle. On the red velvet lining of the lid/cover: "Addis (?) s Lancaster Gallery/ NE Corner of Centre Square & N. Queen St." Black container has decorative motifs on front and back.
Image of Trinity Lutheran Church. 1800's. New brick facade, wrought iron grate/fence surrounding building's sides. Steeple now integrated with building's face.
2 copies of image (etching) of cows in river, a small waterfall, a boater: "Lancaster City Water-Works, on the Conestoga River. / (from a drawing made expressly for Godey's Lady's Book)" Also, glued to a separate brown paper is a description and history of "The Lancaster City Water-Works" cut from the magazine.
Reverse of loose copy shows two women attired in "August Fashions."
13 stems/lengths of broom corn: smooth stems with straw (14-15" long) at ends. Cord string through some of the stems. Whiter string wrapped around the outside of the bundle of 13 with older string and descriptive card tied on. In black ink, handwritten, the card reads:
(Side 1)"Lancaster, Penna./October 31, 1961/ This broom corn was left over from the sale of George F. G. Erisman (Doll Hospital) belongings of (February 23, 1863 birth) And belonged to his great grandfather John Erisman Sr. born March 20,1765 died April 9, 1853; after he was retired from his carpender (sic) trade, grew broom corn in his back lot #315 West Orange St. and made brooms complete. Black beaded purse of rectangular shape. A black silk band trims the mouth at top, enclosing the black twill-weave cotton tape drawstrings. Main body of bag has black beads mounted on a crocheted tan cotton mesh grid through which the off-white muslin interior lining is visible. Fringe at bottom has beaded openwork ending with intertwining loops.
