Lane to West Point; Miss Mason, on the trip, says she is not engaged to Mr. Wright; an old friend Lieut. Saxton to accompany him back to New York; hopes she is having a great visit with Misses Mary and Margie; Mr. Stoeckl brought “the Malachites” jewelry to him; and asks her to visit West Point with him, if she is well enough; business is slow just now. Envelope with stamp removed and New-York postmark addressed to Miss Mary H. Nicholson, care Col. Nicholson, Annapolis, Maryland. 142 Broadway, [New York], NY, Wednesday.

The James Buchanan Family Papers were collected by the James Buchanan Foundation for the Preservation of Wheatland. This collection was relocated from the Wheatland mansion to the LancasterHistory archives in the Spring of 2009. Digitization of the James Buchanan Family Papers was funded by the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission, PHMC Appl ID # 201808013051, 2019-2020.
