Approved by Harriet Lane Johnston. Written on Harriet Lane Johnston’s stationery. 120 Park Street, [Baltimore].

Henry to Louisa Anderson reiterating his concern about her father’s imminent arrival and his disappointment of not being able to be there to help; gives the remainder of his itinerary; vows never to travel again until she is by his side; dislikes Richard Wagner’s music; instructs her to pay Dody’s medical school bills; summaries his travel expenses and that of the family; comments on the falling stock market; will ask Mrs. Robson if Belle can come to them; hopes to see Frank in Nice; and speculates on berths for her father and Miss I to get them home sooner. Envelope addressed to Mrs. J Buchanan Henry, Garden City, Long Island, New York, America stained with some loss, postmark with stamp cut out. Munich, Bavaria.

Letter from E. Y. Buchanan to H. B. Swarr acknowledging receipt of his commission on Harriet Lane Johnston’s trust interest; noting that he has received about 300 sheets of proofs of Mr. Curtis’s interesting James Buchanan biography; and noting that the shares of United Company’s stock are up for sale, and that he intends to invest the proceeds in the Philadelphia Trust & Deposit Company where he has already invested $600 at 2%. 1342 Pine Street, Philadelphia.

Description
Letter from E. Y. Buchanan to H. B. Swarr stating that he has a temporary address with Mr. Cassatt at Haverford College; noting that Elliott Eskridge Lane was pleased to receive interest on interest, but had trouble withdrawing the money until Edward Young Buchanan added the word “guardians” after his and Swarr’s names; approving Mr. Ancona to have use of the Buchanan Scholarship, assuming that Swarr thinks the young man “proper and deserving”; thanking Swarr for the $23.50 pertaining to Harriet Lane Johnston’s trust fund; and surmising that Mr. Curtis, who is now at Richfield Springs, will bring out the biography before long. 1342 Pine Street, Philadelphia.

With envelope addressed to Miss Mary C. Speer, 1st National Bank, Pittsburgh, Pa. with 3 postmarks and stamp.
