Forney in attendance, and happy that even though Macalester voted for Geary that his son voted for Clymer, and a note about Lily and Harriet; repeating the rumor that Harriet Buchanan and Bob Rogers will be married; having not seen the Nevins; begging off from visiting during the winter but hopes to come in warmer weather; asking that Harriet be informed of all the good wishes from her friends; and that Judge Cadwalder gave him a dinner with General Meade in attendance. Description
Democratic ticket for Virginia depicting engravings of James Buchanan, candidate for President, and J. C. Breckinridge, candidate for Vice President. The list of electors for Virginia include their districts and the counties they represented. The election was held on Tuesday, 4 November 1856.

Yellowing paper, jagged, cut left front edge, foled into eighths with small hole on back center fold thru to 'nn' of Pennsyvania' on front. Acid burn marks on back in form of newspaper clippings. Ink signature burning thru to front.
