The inscription indicates that the scrapbook was given to Edward Elliott Bausman by his mother, Mary Swarr Bausman. Mary was the daughter of Hiram B. Swarr. It is unclear if Mary or Elliott compiled the scrapbook.

Swarr, one of the executors of James Buchanan, containing the outflow of James Buchanan’s estate, with most of the recipients’ signatures; some are pasted receipts; some with United States Internal Revenue stamps. 1 leather bound volume with “Receipts” stamped in gold. Lancaster. 13 June – 28 January 1873.
