Henry to Mary Hagner Nicholson stating that he has to go with the President and the Cabinet to the Capitol for signing of a number of bills and he has to announce them as fast as they are signed; therefore he will not be able to go with her unless the bills move faster than he thinks; and that her father is better. Henry to Mary Hagner Nicholson expressing his elation that the wedding is almost here and he can call her “wife”; is concerned with the wedding details such as his garment and the invitations; hopes that she will vanquish “our enemy,” her illness soon; wrote the President a “very dutiful but strong” letter but has not heard his reply; his business is improving; had a very cold July 4; approves her keeping Miss Emily out of “the plot” and disapproves of a priest acting “in that way.” Envelope with postmark and stamp addressed to Miss Mary H. This group of sixteen letters of unknown ownership and whereabouts were copied on 19 July 1937 by F. A. Henry, American Consulate, Melbourne, Australia. Whether he owned the letters is not clear.
