The Norwich Aurora - Extra, Norwich, Connecticut. The issue is dedicated to Buchanan's inauguration. It provides an eighteenth century play-by-play of Buchanan's life beginning with the Presidential election, travel from Wheatland to Washington, and his inaugural address. There are other articles of national importance regarding the Missouri Compromise and the Supreme Court ruling in the Dred Scott case; Kansas; President Pierce; and George Washington. The local news pertains to the upcoming Connecticut state and local elections. Corner of pages 3 and 4 is missing.

Agreement between Elliott T. Lane and James Buchanan concerning funds of Jane B. Lane, Elliott’s wife and James’ sister, and in case she makes no will, how the estate will be divided. Involves bequeaths from her father, James Buchanan, and her mother, Elizabeth Buchanan. Also mentioned in the agreement are her sister, Harriett Henry, and her brother, the Reverend Edward Y. The back page shows an exterior view of the railroad station with well-wishers and an interior view of the reception within, with a commentary of the festivities and those attending.
