The Jacob N. Beam Collection contains information and papers relevant to Dr. Beam's research and writing on the history of the Leacock Presbyterian Church, which he presented in the church's bicentennial address in 1940. Contains 157 leaves that are paginated with the same page number on facing pages plus a 22 page index. In addition there are 3 front leaves one of which contains "John Barr's; Day Book; Bought July 5th AD 1830; Price $1. 312/100" written on the first page. The other pages have miscellaneous account information and 2 end leaves that are paginated and have account information.
The letter "A" (1-1/4" x 3/4") in upper left corner of front cover. Cover spine has "LEGER" (sic) embossed on it.
Front inside cover has "fou/$750" and "Ann Barr 75 lb B???" written on it.
Book references work performed e.g., hire of horse, thrashing, etc. and the purchase of goods, e.g., stove, cider barrel, muslin, silk, cutting box, wheat, lime, brandy, etc.
Insert 1 - Blue donor card.
Insert 2 - Six loose pieces of paper:

Description
Papers filed for construction and repair of bridges. The types of petitions presented to the Court of Quarter Sessions include: petitions for bridge construction and repair, petitions for inspections, and petitions for bridge funds. Other types of items include: specifications, proposals, and contracts for bridge construction and repair; bridge blueprints and plans; correspondence; bills for materials; and bridge condition reports. Many papers show date; court term and case number; names of petitioners, viewers, inspectors, and contractors; costs and fees; location of bridge; and name or number of bridge. The order and report of viewers documents are of particular interest as they usually include a copy of the original petition; the order and names of viewers to inspect the site; the public announcement for the viewers meeting; the report and recommendation of viewers, often with a drawing of the site and surrounding area; and the court decision.
