Letter from Charles M. Howell to Mrs. Henry E. Johnston explaining that the weight of James Buchanan’s tomb will be carried by an interior brick arch; asserting that the plan differs only slightly from the wishes of Mr. Buchanan, unlike the draft which he received from Mr. Johnston which is very pretty; and that H. B. Swarr and E. Y. Buchanan have approved the plan. Lancaster.

This collection was relocated from the Wheatland mansion to the LancasterHistory archives in the Spring of 2009. Digitization of the James Buchanan Family Papers was funded by the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission, PHMC Appl ID # 201808013051, 2019-2020.
