Renunciations are papers filed in the Orphans' Court by executors of an estate who do not wish to administer that estate. They show the name of the decedent, the decedent's place of residence, the name of the person renouncing administration, the name of the replacement administrator to be appointed, and date. The relationship between the decedent, the executor, and the administrator is usually shown. Arranged chronologically and then alphabetically within each year.

Letter from Nahum Capen to Harriet Lane Johnston referring to the forty letters that he had received from President Buchanan. The letters had been relayed from Mr. Reed to Mr. Curtis to Rev. Dr. Buchanan, who has unpacked 18 of them and not yet found the paper giving the conversation between President Buchanan and Col. Benton. Mr. Capen would like to give her his index to the letters and visit her in Baltimore if she wishes. Mt. Ida.

Letter from Charles M. Howell to Mrs. Henry E. Johnston explaining that the weight of James Buchanan’s tomb will be carried by an interior brick arch; asserting that the plan differs only slightly from the wishes of Mr. Buchanan, unlike the draft which he received from Mr. Johnston which is very pretty; and that H.
