1830 - Robert Baldwin and John Cains opened a store in Cains.
1843 - Robert Baldwin built his store and home on the corner of Cains Road and the Old Philadelphia Pike.
1849 - Robert Baldwin was elected to the State Legislature.

Contains 49 leaves, with a mixed pagination, plus a 12 page name index (mostly by first name).
Front cover inside has "Henry Ammon; His Day Book Bot (sic); Eliza Ball the 17 Day of April - 1845; Henry Ammon" written at the top. Also calculation numbers.
Inside back cover has account notes written on it.
Pages 6 and facing page, and 7 are blank.

Book binding has minor damage but is intact. Spine is worn through at places. There are 4 loose leaves (p. 9, 26, 28 and last page). The first leaf and 3 index pages are incomplete with portions torn off. Some pages are loosely held in place.
Spine is worn and missing at bottom.
Front inside leaf has ~3/4 torn out and has account notes written on it.

There are 2 sections; a front and back separated by 39 blank leaves.
Contains 118 leaves, that includes 2 front leaves, 1 back leaf and a 12 leaf index. 1st page has "James Finly (sic)" written on it with some German writing. Body pages are partially paginated to page 24, are not ruled but have vertical accounting lines. 81 pages are blank including 78 middle pages and 3 front leaf pages.
Book references bushel of clover, whiskey, work performed at the mill, bushel of corn, bushel of rye, cash paid, hay, day of reaping, payment received, flour, cow, Cash lent, purchase of property from Henry McLaughlin (see p. 19), etc.
Book is intact. Front and back covers are heavily worn on the outside and has foxing on the inside. Front cover bottom right corner is loose but attached.

Front and back covers, and spine are heavily worn and have red rot. An ~1" section of the front cover and spine have completely worn through. Front cover has an ~1-1/2" tare at the left bottom. An !2" section of the back cover and spine have completely worn through. The "LEDGER" stamp has partially peeled off.
Pages have water damage. The first leaf is missing the vertical half. The index pages are missing ~6" upper corners and tabs a through M are missing.Pages 23-24 & 25-26 are missing ~4" from the bottom edge.

This is a combination daybook (front) and account book (back).
Contains 85 leaves, ruled, with vertical accounting lines and paginated only to page 21, including 2 front, 1 end leaf and 6 leaves with their edges trimed as tabs, possibly intended to be an index but blank and without letters written on the tabs. 38 pages are blank.
"MILL LEDGER; 1860-1886" is written at the top of the second leaf.
Book references Gish's Mill, red wheat, flour, heaffer, bran etc.
Book is intact. Outside and edges of the covers are worn. Front cover bottom is creased and worn through at a ~1-1/2" section. Bottom right of spine and bottom left of front cover are missing ~1" of material.
Front 3 leaves are foded at the bottom corners and last 2 leaves are missing ~3" of each leaf.
