Description
The bottom halves of two pages from the Lancaster Inquirer. First page contains a an article on Lincoln’s progress to the White House for his inauguration and a short notice of Buchanan returning to Wheatland. The second page was published the next week and continues with Lincoln’s progress to Washington, D.C. Lancaster, Pennsylvania.

News for Union troops stationed in the Southern Department in and near Beaufort. Focus of this issue is the Battle of Port Royal Ferry. Note: Beaufort is situated on Port Royal Island, South Carolina.

He was well known and well respected as a no nonsense officer, for his leadership and gallantry in battle, for his dedication to the service of his country, and for his concern for the welfare of his men.
