Front page of the Saturday, April 15, 1865, of "The New York Herald" newspaper (Vol. XXX, No. 104) with an ink profile of President Abraham Lincoln, top center. 6 columns of print detail the assassination and death of President Lincoln as well as an account of a second assassination attempt of Secretary Seward and the wounding of his son, Frederick Seward, who was trying to defend his father in the Seward home.
Jefferson Davis' Last Proclamation (April 5, 1865) and "The Evacuation of the Rebel Capital" from Danville, VA (printed in the Danville, VA, Register) also appear on this page.
On the reverse is a large ad for GRAIN-O, non-caffeinated coffee manufactured by The Genesee Pure Food Co. of Le Roy, N.Y. Editor James Gordon Bennett has written "Assassination of President Lincoln and Attempt to Assassinate Secretary Seward." Accounts of Sherman's movements appear. Additional advertisements include Kemp's Balsam cough cure and Lane's tea as remedy for constipation.
Some stains in left margin and on lower left corner. A few small tears on lower right edge. Two missing (worn) section in upper right margin above 'LD'. Horizontal and vertical fold marks are not too noticeable. This page was carefully stored flat.
Portion of the Saturday, August 12, 1912 page from the News-Journal, Lancaster, PA. Four 2.25-inch wide columns and a fifth double-wide column of ads on the right. Columns contain local items such as visits ("Elam Landis and family were Sunday guests..."), date of public school opening with teachers' names, Rawlinsville Campmeeting opening and names; Moose club mtg.; Rocky Springs Park. Moving Pictures of Lancaster. A "RELIGIOUS" column lists local churches, pastors' names and worship service times. The ad column lists Moving Picture s, Conestoga Amusements, Rocky Springs Park, Dancing at the York Furnace Pavillion and the Lancaster Loan Company and "Bell 'Phone 59Y."

Newsprint is glued to a stiff thin piece of brown board. Brown overall. Lower right portion of newspaper is missing. On reverse there are indentations from nails when piece was framed.
Page 192 of "Gleason's Pictorial Drawing-Room Companion" from 1854. Includes an article on James Buchanan with images of him as Minister to England and of Wheatland. Also includes musings on "What is the hardest mode to die?"
The Camp Kettle, printed newspaper, four pages. "Published Every Opportunity by the Field and Staff of the Roundhead Regiment Colonel Leasure, Commanding." Beaufort, South Carolina. News for Union troops stationed in the Southern Department in and near Beaufort. Focus of this issue is the Battle of Port Royal Ferry. Note: Beaufort is situated on Port Royal Island, South Carolina.
