Front cover and spine are missing. Back cover is not attached and had "J. S. Echelman 93 Master" written on the inside.
Book references to payment received for sales of the day, including produce, eggs, wood, dried apples, butter, peas, lard, wool, oil, washed wool, cigars, bacon, tallen, coffee, etc.
Front cover and spine are missing. Back cover is not attached and is heavily worn with edges worn through.
Pages are loosely bound with string. Pages1 and 2 are missing. Page 3 & 4, 23 & 24, pages 143 to 148, are not attached. All pages have indication of water damage.

Account book of Gish, West Donegal Township and Penn Township.
This is a combination daybook (front) and account book (back).
Contains 85 leaves, ruled, with vertical accounting lines and paginated only to page 21, including 2 front, 1 end leaf and 6 leaves with their edges trimed as tabs, possibly intended to be an index but blank and without letters written on the tabs. 38 pages are blank.
"MILL LEDGER; 1860-1886" is written at the top of the second leaf.
Book references Gish's Mill, red wheat, flour, heaffer, bran etc.
Book is intact. Outside and edges of the covers are worn. Front cover bottom is creased and worn through at a ~1-1/2" section. Bottom right of spine and bottom left of front cover are missing ~1" of material.
Front 3 leaves are foded at the bottom corners and last 2 leaves are missing ~3" of each leaf.

Contains 317 leaves, ruled, and except for the front leaf and index with vertical accounting lines and paginated. Contains 50 blank pages; (pp. 262-269, pp. 312-325, pp. 486-538 and pp. 550-559).
"Ledger" is stamped on spine.
The following possible newspaper clipping is glued on inside of back cover:
"A New Postoffice."
The Postmaster General had ordered the establishment of a postoffice at Herryville, Lancaster county, and William D. Herr has been appointed postmaster" The date July 26, 1886 is handwritten at the bottom.
Three pieces of paper with notes are glued to pages 10, 23 and 271.
Book references cash, sundries, flour, powder, jacket, pair shoes, salt, boots, hat, cartridge, shot, eggs, cigars, coffee, tobacco, paint, brush, corn, cow, butchering, stockings, spool of thread, oil, raisins, butter, suspenders, etc.
Front and back covers are worn and stained at spots. Spine had begun to separate from the book. Pages have foxing and many have stain spots.
Index tabs A-B, C-D, E-F and O-P are missing.
Pages 8 and 9 are glued together approximately half way at seam and page leaf is torn ~1/2" at seam and pages 130 and 131 are glued together at the inside seam.
The following pages have ~1/3 of their bottoms torn off: pp. 541-542, pp313-314, pp. 541-542.
Pages 253-254 has 3/4 of the outside leaf cut out.
Pages 317 to 322 have been ripped out.
Pages 381 to 390 have a 1-1/2" tare at the top.

Owner not identified. This could be Dr. Emanuel R. Hershey, Pharmacist (2 May 1847 - 22 October 1921), buried in the Paradise Cemetery. His father , Abraham Hershey (16 August 1819 - 18 December 1886) at his death had three tracts of land, two of them with improvements. Emanuel was the oldest son and may have kept these records.
Front and back covers are worn and have partially separated from the spine. Spine has worn through at places.
Paper has foxing.

Contains 258 paginated leaves that includes 3 front leaves and 3 end leaves. 140 pages are blank. The body pages are ruled with vertical lines for accounting. The first front page has "thl/shg" in the upper left corner and "Robert Clark's Book bought in the year of our lord one thousand eight hundred and Fifty two Price $1 75 cts" written on it and the next 3 front pages are an index. The end leaves are blank except the last page that has Symptoms of Croup, Cure for Croup and way to water proof boots.
Front inside cover has a typed sticker as follows. "W.M. MURRAY'S; Cheap Books Store, Kramph's Buildings; North Queen St.; Lancaster, Pa."
Back inside cover has an apple orchard layout identifying type of trees.
Spine has "DAY-BOOK" stamped on it.

Book is intact. The outside covers and spine have red rot. Front and back outside covers are worn with stain marks at various places. The leather on the book corners, the top and bottom of the spine and 5" of the bottom the back cover have worn through. Many pages are stained at the bottom. The edges of the back ~100 leaves are stained.
2 Leaves (493 to 496) and leaf (489 to 490) have been torn out.
