Photocopy of the typescript of a translation of a diary, most likely by Bernhard Adam Grube, in the archives of the Moravian Church, Winston-Salem, N.C. Most of the journey was through western Virginia. The purpose of the trip was to help set up the original Moravian settlement in North Carolina, near Winston-Salem.
The book was written by a Moravian priest, George Henry Loskiel, describing his trip from Bethlehem, PA, to Goshen, Ohio, in 1803 to attend a missionary conference. The book is unique in that his lengthy description of the trip is entirely in rhyming verse.
