Encased ambrotype, circa 1865, of Rosine Etta (Hubley) Herr (1850-1889). Seated in plaid dress by a column, in a composition case with gold trim and lined with red velvet.
This collection contains four letters from Henry Seiger to Anna Roland in Marietta, Pennsylvania and one letter in German that was either to or from Anna Roland. Henry Seiger was in the 12th Pennsylvania Reserve Regiment, which was also known as the 41st Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry. He served in Company D, the Kepner Fencibles, under the command of Captain Samuel Wilt. Folder 1 contains the transcriptions, Folder 2 contains the original letters.

Commemorative banner of Pennsylvania Coat of Arms and U.S. shield. Embroidered silk banner in original wooden frame. Embroidery measures about five feet square and shows an American spread eagle and the U.S. shield between four tasseled American flags.
Provenance
Banner was stored in a public building near Cleveland, Ohio for several decades (unknown how banner reached Ohio or why it was stored there). It reached the art market in the 1960s. It is believed to be from the Japanese delegation of 1860.
Banner is believed to have been a gift to President Buchanan in 1860 by the first Japanese mission to the White House. According to documentation from Thomas L. Hughes, the Pennsylvania Coat of Arms was regulated in 1875 to have two white horses and 'no
Servants bell used by Thaddeus Stevens. Has thin, disk-shaped stone base with bell mounted above, encircled by a decorative housing comprised of three Mother of Pear shells, floral and vining grapes of copper, and external copper clapper suspended from an arching copper wire. Stone base supports a brass pierced gallery encircling the bell.

The James Buchanan Family Papers were collected by the James Buchanan Foundation for the Preservation of Wheatland. This collection was relocated from the Wheatland mansion to the LancasterHistory archives in the Spring of 2009. Leather fire bucket . Painted black banner with yellow letters: "Farmer's Bank." has foliate designs on both ends of banner. "No. 9" is painted below banner in black. Stitched leather construction. Metal D rings and leather loops attach 1in wide leather handle and bucket. Tag found inside bucket: "Water Bucket of C W Richenbach Property of Union No 1". Tag is for 1931 Union Fire Company annual dinner. Tag is now in object file.
